Michael Burawoy (1948-) é um sociólogo marxista britânico, mais conhecido como o autor de Manufacturing Consent: Changes in the Labor Process under Monopoly Capitalism, um estudo sobre trabalho e organizações, tematizando o efeito degradante do capitalismo sobre o trabalho na América.

Burawoy foi presidente da Associação Americana de Sociologia em 2004 e atualmente é professor na Universidade da Califórnia em Berkeley.[1]

Entre 2006-2010 foi vice-presidente do Comitê de Associações Nacionais da Associação Internacional de Sociologia (AIS). No XVII Congresso Mundial de Sociologia da AIS ele foi eleito presidente da Associação Internacional de Sociologia pelo período de 2010-2014.[2]
