Diferente de seu álbum anterior, ''[[The Velvet Rope]]'', que tratava de problemas pessoais e depressão, o novo álbum fala do recente [[divórcio]] vivido pela cantora na época do lançamento. Com canções variadas, o álbum possui momentos de descontração, reflexão e também, de muita sensualidade. O álbum também rendeu a Janet Jackson mais dois #1 consecutivos com "Doesn't Really Matter", que fez parte da trilha sonora do filme ''[[Nutty Professor II: The Klumps]]'' em [[2000]], e a música título "All for You" em [[2001]], pela qual ganhou o [[Grammy]] de Melhor Gravação Dance.
O disco também rendeu mais três ''singles'', "Someone to Call My Lover", "Son of a Gun (I Betcha Think This Song Is About You)", dueto com [[Carly Simon]], e "Come On Get Up". ''All for You'' foi o quinto álbum consecutivo da cantora a atingir o #1 da [[Billboard 200]].
