Na narrativa bíblica a mulher dá a luz a um menino que é atacada pelo Dragão, identificado como [[Diabo]] ou [[Satanás]] que quer devorar a criança. Então a criança é arrebatada ao céu, a mulher foge para o deserto em um local preparado por Deus durante mil duzentos e sessenta dias. Houve então [[Guerra no Céu]], Miguel e seus anjos lutam com o dragão.
 
O dragão perde a batalha nos céus e é lançado fora. Frustado o dragão volta a Terra e inicia guerra contra "os remanescentes".
