Deutsch: Sanitätermütze der italienischen Armee mit einem Stempel von 1917 sowie eine Wundkompresse (seitlicher Aufkleber 1916) mit der Aufschrift „Nr. 12 Compresse di Mussola al Iodoformio cm. 20 X 95. Farmacia Centrale Militare.“ Das Rotkreuzabzeichen stammt von der österreich-ungarischen Armee. Laut einer österreichischen Privatsammlung, in deren Besitz sich die Schiffchenmütze befindet, gehörte sie ursprünglich dem amerikanischen Schriftsteller Ernest Hemingway. Dieser war Fahrer des American Field Service, einer Art Sanitätstransportgruppe im Umfeld der Isonzoschlachten im 1. Weltkrieg. Seine dortigen Kriegserlebnisse schilderte er im Roman In einem andern Land. In der Zwischenkriegszeit war er öfter zum Fischen am Isonzo, wo er eine Ferienunterkunft hatte. Aus diesem Umfeld stammt die Mütze laut Überlieferung. Die bereits von Motten angefressene feldgraue Kappe wurde sorgfältig restauriert.

The Red Badge is from the Austria-Hungarian army. According to an Austrian private collection, which owns the Garrison cap they originally belonged to the American writer Ernest Hemingway. He was a driver of the American Field Service, a type of medical transport group in the Battles of the Isonzo of the 1st World War. His war experiences there, he described in his novel A Farewell to Arms. In the interwar period, he was often go fishing on the Isonzo, where he had a cottage. For this environment, the cap is according to tradition. The already-eaten by moths field gray cap was carefully restored.

Farmacia Centrale Militare." Il segno rosso è dall'esercito austro-ungarico. Secondo una collezione privata austriaco, che detiene i cap che originariamente apparteneva allo scrittore americano Ernest Hemingway. Questo è stato il conducente del Field Service, un gruppo di trasporto sanitario nelle battaglie di Isonzo durante la Prima Guerra Mondiale.
