@EVinente: This was once on the website you quote Holland or the Netherlands?, an official statement of the Dutch embassy. The name Holland as country name is an insult to many Dutch, since Holland is only a region. How would Portuguese people like it if Portugal would be called Algarve?

In Portuguese, both names Holanda e Países Baixos are considered correct as a translation to Netherlands, because "Holanda" is more frequently in the references searched, even the official site from embassy was registered as "Holanda".. @EVinente: With all respect, it's not the Portuguese speakers we decide what's the correct name for our country. The Dutch do. You will not find a single official government paper which uses Holland as country name. My passport doesn't say Holland, nor does my drivers license or any other official paper. Maybe the name Holland is not used with the intend to offend, but that doesn't change the fact that it is offending. Furthermore, it's mostly used out of ignorance. People who know the difference and sentiments can't say they don't intend to offend. As for you, you know the difference now, so you can no longer use as argument "I did not intend to offend" if you would use Holland as country name. Even the pt-wiki page Holanda (região) is quite clear, and I quote "Alguns neerlandenses de outras regiões podem achar indelicado ou até insultante usar o termo para designar o país como um todo." So the big question is now, does pt-wiki want to continue using the name Holland as country name now it knows it's insulting to many Dutch? Does pt-wiki want to be correct or incorrect out of habit? And the number of reference is an argument, however not a conclusive argument. If we go back in time, we would find more references to "n*ggers" than "African Americans". So would it be okay to start using that term again? I think we both agree, there is only one answer to that question, NO!!!. Ignorance is no valid reason to maintain ignorance. Sorry, but both names are correct in portuguese. There is many discussions about this fact (can be found on the talk page Discussão:Países Baixos), and the many referentes in portuguese, which are the language of our Wikipedia, consolidating both names. I put it on my todo list. First I finish the Eredivisie, next is Dutch handball and after that I can do the Supercup. But you can do something too:

* On your home page, change "Eu admiro o futebol holandês" into "Eu admiro o futebol neerlandês" Holanda, holandês, .... are incorrect names and for many Dutch insulting. Correct is Países Baixos, neerlandês. Holland is NO country but only a region.

* Create club pages for missing teams like e.g. SC Enschede, Fortuna '54, GVAV, DOS, Blauw Wit (See: Eredivisie de 1963–64) Sittardia (See: Eredivisie de 1964–65) Xerxes, Elinkwijk (See: Eredivisie de 1966–67) ... I cannot do that because I don't speak Portuguese.
