English: Headwater of the Gender stream north of Steensel, The Netherlands; view to the west-northwest (upstream). The uppermost reaches of the stream can be seen in the distance, indicated by the dried-grass verges along the bank: coming from the background in the middle of the picture, in front of the trees, nearly reaching the right edge of the picture, then cutting a right angle to the south (the viewer's left), back to the middle of the photo again and cutting a right-angle corner again to flow east, towards the viewer. The present-day, semi-artificial course of the Gender at this location is the result of large-scale land consolidation and related stream channelisation projects of the 1950s and 1960s.
