Symbolab é um mecanismo de respostas[1] que fornece soluções passo-a-passo para problemas matemáticos para diversos assuntos.[2] Foi originalmente desenvolvido pela start-up Israelense EqsQuest Ltd., pela qual foi lançado para uso público em 2011. Em 2020, a companhia foi adquirida pelo website de tecnologia educacional americano Course Hero.[3][4]
História editar
No final de 2011, Symbolab foi lançado como um programa de pesquisa semântica matemática pelos empreendedores israelenses Michal Avny (CEO), Adam Arnon (Cientista chefe), e Lev Alyshayev (CTO).[5] At the onset, it could interpret a user-entered equation or symbolic problem and find the solution if it existed. Later, the ability to show all of the steps explaining the calculation were added.[6]
The company's emphasis gradually drifted towards focusing on providing step-by-step solutions for mathematical problems at the secondary and post-secondary levels. Symbolab relies on machine learning algorithms for both the search and solution aspects of the engine.[7]
Aquisição em 2020 editar
Em outubro de 2020, a empresa Course Hero, situada na California, adquiriu a EqsQuest Ltd. e o programa Symbolab por um valor não divulgado. Os funcionários que trabalhavam para a EqsQuest Ltd., todos residindo em Tel Aviv, começaram a trabalhar para a Course Hero como parte da aquisição.[8]
