Correlli Douglas Barnett (28 de junho de 1927 - 10 de julho de 2022) foi um historiador militar inglês, que também escreveu obras de história econômica, particularmente sobre o "declínio industrial" do pós-guerra do Reino Unido.

Influência editar

Houve alguns ministros de gabinete no governo de Margaret Thatcher que foram influenciados pelas obras de Barnett. Sir Keith Joseph, Secretário de Educação de 1981 a 1986, admirou o trabalho de Barnett sobre a cultura antinegócios na educação e em uma entrevista com Anthony Seldon ele proclamou: "Sou um apoiador de Correlli Barnett".[1] Nigel Lawson, Chancellor of the Exchequer de 1983 a 1989, também citou as opiniões de Barnett sobre a educação como uma influência, especificamente The Audit of War.[2] O comentário de Barnett de que "um ataque ao Irã efetivamente lançaria a terceira guerra mundial" foi citado por Noam Chomsky em seu ensaio "A Predator Becomes More Dangerous Once Wounded".[3]
